'The Blind God' is the project I worked on for my final honours submission. The project was made by a team of 4 people, with myself working as sole audio designer.
The game is a first-person wave based shooter, in which the player has a variety of abilities they can use to survive an endless amount of waves of enemies.
With my project I established the research goal of “How can I use audio design to create a first-person shooter that is accessible for blind players?”.
I didn’t aim to reinvent the wheel. I looked to existing blind/visually impaired accessible features, and re designed them to fit within the nature of our game.
In turn a variety of audio systems were developed by myself and technical designer Niko Drousie, with all of the audio assets being created by me.
I used a small amount of Foley recordings for the project, with a primary focus on creating synth assets using the Vital plug-in for Reaper.
